9/11 DAY FOUNDATION

20 years after 9/11, we invited veterans, first responders, survivors and family members back together for the first time. Their purpose? Reminding us what really mattered about that day—and everyday. Not the loss and fear, but the love and hope. Joining together when we needed each other most.

It’s not an exaggeration to say this project changed my life. I helped lead behind-the-scenes interviews with each speaker, and heard each individual tale of resilience and optimism in the face of near-insurmountable tragedy.

As a half-Middle-Eastern kid, 9/11 always represented something tough for me. Hearing our diverse speakers reflect on their egalitarian beliefs, and how powerful it is when we meet each other as fellow human beings… It gave me a more healing perspective.

And then I got to record a radio spot with Morgan Freeman.
